Andrew is a respected and experienced leader with a strong background in public programming, events, exhibitions, learning/education, marketing/communications, publishing across the cultural sector. His experience covers both large and smaller organisations, most notably State Library Victoria, the National Trust of Australia (Victoria) and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.

Building from his interest in the intersection of culture, learning, technology, ideas and creativity, Andrew has a strong network with access to education, culture and technology thought leaders in Australia and internationally. And through his involvement with the Australian Learning Lecture (www.all-learning.org.au), he is also engaged with contemporary thinking about with the future of learning.

He consults to cultural and other organisations in the areas of education/learning, public programming, strategic planning, partnerships, divergent thinking and as a critical friend/mentor.

    Leadership in the creation of the Australian Learning Lecture – a lasting legacy of ideas and advocacy to improve the quality of education nationally. See link

    Learning and education programming, State Library Victoria

    Greatly expanded the Library’s learning offer and its contribution to the broader education sector.

  3. 2006 - 2019
    Inside a Dog website, State Library Victoria

    Led the team responsible for the hugely popular Inside a Dog youth literature website.

  4. 2007 - 2011
    Victorian Government's Young Readers Program, State Library Victoria

    Oversaw the development and management of the Young Readers Program which distributed free books to children on their second birthday - and the books-for-babies services. The $2.1 million program distributed 70,000 books and a further 70,000 reading-to-baby manuals over four years.

    Commonwealth Writers Prize - 2004 and 2006, State Library Victoria

    Working with the Commonwealth Secretariat, successfully hosted the Commonwealth Writers Prize on two occasions.

    Victorian Premiers' Literary Awards, State Library Victoria

    Responsible for the management and delivery of the Awards - call for entries, judging, shortlisting and announcements - over a 10 year period.

    Overseeing the transformation of the Library’s approach to exhibitions – taking them from small foyer displays to sector-leading exhibitions in the Dome, Cowen and Keith Murdoch Galleries.

    Co-ordination of:

    • the Museum's exhibitions program
    • Specific exhibitions functions – curatorial, conservation, loans, design liaison, catalogue preparation, supervision of consultants/contractors, media & publicity
    • Several major gallery refurbishments - the Medieval Treasury and the Toshiba Gallery of Japanese Art
